The Head of Medical Strategy provides medical expertise to the rheumatology commercial and medical teams and provides clinical and scientific guidance to the Medical Affairs team ensuring the successful implementation of the medical portion of the company’s plan for its products in the rheumatology space.

- Brainstorm science-related data needs and their communication channels and platforms
- Assess need and ensure execution of key exploratory data analysis projects via liaison with Medical colleagues on Patient Solutions Teams, Medical colleagues from other regions, and the Biostatistics group.
- Provide medical review of grants and IIS proposals for rheumatology
- Maintain therapeutic area expertise by collecting competitive intelligence and disease state info from both literature and Key Opinion Leaders via liaison with the Field Medical Team.
- Build, maintain and nurture authentic scientific/medical engagement with both national and regional key opinion leaders.
- Assess the need for planning and running Medical Advisory Boards within appropriate rheumatology customer base.
- In collaboration with Medical Communications and Strategic Publications, manages the publication plan developed each year by the Global Medical Director in collaboration with the Patient Solutions Team (PST).
- Ensure appropriate focus, timely preparation, review and submission of publications at scientific congresses
- Quality assurance and review of medical materials including brand promotional materials and internal medical education resources
- Provide input to global R&D to best represent patient unmet needs in development programs including pipeline assets.
